OUR PEOPLE

We’re focusing on the ways we can enable our employees, customers, and community citizens to thrive. So, we pledge to:

  • Create local career opportunities – by building on our existing apprenticeship programme as well as offering job shadowing and mentoring opportunities.
  • Create social contracts that support equity, inclusion, and wellbeing – by continuing to demonstrate our commitment to ending modern slavery, achieving a diverse workforce, and providing employees and consumer with access to our expert wellbeing hub.
  • Enable our people to give back – continuing with our volunteering policy which allows employees the option of taking 3 days out of their working year to support charities, while receiving full pay.

OUR PLANET

At Sodexo, we’re aiming to foster a culture of environmental responsibility. So, we pledge to evaluate and make positive changes to our business’ impact on the environment by:

  • Moving to 98% retailer eCodes.
  • Reducing physical merchandise as rewards and opt for digital versions wherever possible.
  • Reviewing the feasibility of eco-friendly plastic in our Prepaid cards with the aim to be 100% digital by 2025.
  • Responsibly sourcing office supplies and IT equipment.

OUR PLACES

We’re focusing on adopting a needs-led approach to our communities. So, we pledge to:

  • Create social contracts that support equity, inclusion, and wellbeing – by providing mentorship opportunities for community citizens and promoting increased social mobility.
  • Support ‘narrowing the gap’ between local communities – by placing social value at the heart of our service offers, maximising a social return on investment for our communities and supporting the UK’s commitment to ‘levelling up’ by creating job and skills development opportunities.

OUR PARTNERS

We’re concentrating on an inclusive approach to creating resilience and growth amongst our partner network. So, we pledge to:

  • Provide professional skills-based mentoring and coaching to our SME/VSCE network - by supporting the Neuro Therapy Centre and the Salford Foundation project with their growth ambitions and resilience through skills-based mentoring
  • Actively supporting our local and national charity networks – by enabling our workforce to access volunteering and fundraising opportunities.
  • Support SMEs/VCSEs growth – by providing apprenticeship opportunities and continuing to comply with the prompt payment code for SMEs/VCESs.

Our carbon reduction plan

Our carbon reduction journey started in 2017 when we launched our Better Tomorrow Roadmap. At that time, we committed to reducing our Greenhouse gas emissions by 34% by 2025. We have already exceeded our 34% target.

The next step, however, will be to reduce Greenhouse gas emissions across all three scopes by 65% by 2030. By no later than 2035 we will have concluded a complete decarbonisation of the business, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by over 90% and neutralising any remaining emissions to reach net zero.

We have seen our carbon footprint increase slightly as our operational levels transition and adapt post-pandemic. Overall, we have recorded a -79% reduction in FY22 across our scope 1, 2 and 3 GHG emissions compared with our FY17 baseline.

This commitment forms part of our wider social impact pledge and will enable us to continue to support and improve the communities in which we live, work and serve.
